A Marriage of Convenience

An illustrated lecture by John Hunt to kick off NELPG’s Diamond Jubilee year.

In the mid-1960s the NELPG had two main line steam locomotives but nowhere to run them while the NYMR had a railway with no suitable locomotives to run trains. Hence a ‘marriage of convenience’ that endures to this day.

The show depicts significant events in NELPG’s history and the close ties with and events on the NYMR. The talk will include plenty of historical pictures, especially of the peopled involved.

The talk will be held in the Kirk Theatre, Pickering on Saturday 24th October starting at 7:30pm.
