Stainmore Railway, Kirkby Stephen East
On the weekend of 23rd-25th August, P3 2392 will feature at the Stainmore Railway, Kirkby Stephen East, for their Railway200 celebrations. Featuring steam rides from 9:30am to 5pm, alongside our P3 will be BR Y7 985 and BR Standard 2 78018, returning to where she was based in BR-days.
Entry is free, with charges for train rides – there will be railway society stalls and displays as well as a free bus operating to view the viaducts at Smardalegill, Podgill and Merrygill.
Shildon and Darlington
It is hoped that our three operational locomotives will appear at the Rail 200 events at Locomotion, Shildon, from 24th May to 1st June, and at Hopetown, Darlington, from 20th September to 5th October, though final details are yet to be confirmed.
Please visit the Locomotion and Hopetown websites for up-to-date information, as well as the official S&DR200 website at https://sdr200.co.uk.
This is the latest news on the plans for the celebrations commemorating SDR 200 and specifically of the proposed gathering of locomotives in the area of the 1861 Shed and the A1 Trust Works.
As well as the planned Locomotion runs, a small gathering of a number of relevant steam locomotives and vehicles will be on public display in the area of the 1861 Shed and the A1 Trust Works from Saturday 20th September until Sunday 5th October. Given space limitations, the preferred line-up will include P3 2392, Q6 63395, K1 62005 and A1 60163 “Tornado“.
It is unlikely that J72 69023 will be in steam but there will be the opportunity to view it and the latest works carried out in the 1861 shed.
